Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a 1st Shift Wire Harness Assembler to build harnesses by following standard work instructions, reading drawings and wiring lists. You will perform soldering, crimping, assembly, inspection and use hand and power tools to complete subassemblies for military vehicles.

Strong attention to detail, good reading comprehension, and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing setting, wire harness assembly experience strongly preferred.
• Strong soldering experience preferred.
• High attention to detail
• Ability to read engineering drawings, work orders, and other written procedures.
• Ability to be precise and work accurately, as small errors can cause major issues.
• Electronic and Mechanical Assembly experience, including the use of Hand tools and Soldering Iron strongly desired.
• Keen interest in learning about harness building and manufacturing processes.
• Must have excellent vision and good hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wire harnesses and sub-assemblies following work instructions.
• Perform soldering, crimping, and wiring to schematics and wiring lists.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders.
• Operate semi-automatic equipment (crimp presses, sonic welder, wire strippers).
• Route, wire, and assemble components using layout boards and tools.
• Inspect assemblies visually and dimensionally for quality.
• Prepare, clean, wire bond, pot, seal, and inspect components and assemblies.
• Use hand/power tools and fixtures; work with Engineering on new products.
