Qualifications

• Woodworking or construction experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Production: build trusses to cutting bill specifications.
• Move specified pre-cut parts to work area and place parts in jig by hand.
• Pull plates and layout per cutting bill.
• Follow Truss Setup/Team Leader instructions.
• Hammer and press plates over web and chord joints.
• Coordinate material substitutions with Production Manager.
• Ensure finished trusses meet quality specs (straight chords, proper bracing, bearing location).
• Attach pink bracing instructions under peak plate (one per stack).
• Send truss through finish press.
• Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work area.

The primary responsibility of this position is to build trusses to cutting bill specifications.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Production.Moving specified pre-cut parts to work area and placing parts in jig by hand.Pulling plates and layout per cutting bill.Following Truss Setup/ Team Leader’s instructions.Hammering and pressing plates over web and chord joints.Coordinating the need for material substitutions with the Production Manager.Ensuring finished trusses meet all quality specifications (straight chords, proper lateral bracing and bearing location tags, no gaps at joints greater than 1/8”, etc.).Attaching pink bracing instructions under peak plate (one per stack).Sending truss through finish press.Safety.Complying with all Company safety policies and procedures.Maintaining a clean, safe work area at all times.Ensuring the safety equipment is functioning properly before operating any production equipment.Reporting all unsafe actions and equipment to the supervisor promptly.General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Truss Builder must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all Company employees.Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting up to 75 pounds will be required on a regular basis.
