Job summary

RRD is seeking a Quality Inspector to visually inspect printed materials and ensure conformance to customer specifications. This on-site role emphasizes defect detection, reporting, and strict adherence to quality SOPs.

You will document defects, prepare reports, and collaborate with manufacturing leads to resolve issues. Previous printing QA experience and strong communication are preferred; competitive hourly pay and benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a quality control/assurance function in a printing environment required.
  • Requires good knowledge of general administrative and manufacturing operations procedures and knowledge of job specific processes key to successfully execute and complete the duties of the job.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain quality policy, methods and/or procedures when completing assignments, as well as provide a level of detail required to resolve issues.
  • Requires very good organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines and ability to coordinate phases of work with others.

  • Perform visual inspection of random samples of product selected during a production run, or post production, looking for a variety of possible defects such as ragged edges, torn or wrinkled pages, incomplete cuts, incorrect bindings, smeared or blotched colors, dirt on the product, and any other visual defect that is out of specification.
  • Follows inspection checklist and records any identified defects.
  • Follow established quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure product meets quality conformance specified by the customer.
  • Prepares written reports and provides notification to manufacturing management of known or found defects.
  • Identify potential issues and involve department Lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
  • May assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
  • May assist with disposition of defective or non-conforming product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $17.50 - $27.00 / hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
