Land O’Lakes, Inc. is seeking a 1st Shift Production Supervisor for our Purina Animal Nutrition plant. You will coordinate production, promote safety, ensure quality, and engage employees across multiple departments in a fast-paced facility.

Leadersh ip in a manufacturing setting is preferred; a Bachelor’s degree with leadership experience or a strong equivalent background is expected. Occasional weekends may be required to meet production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records per SOP/NBi.
  • Learn batching system (WEM) and related processes.
  • Maintain records of daily receipts and inspections.
  • Direct others to align with production schedules and goals.
  • Monitor Workday timekeeping and approve time weekly.
  • Lead, coach, train, and discipline staff.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to meet department orders and goals.

1st Shift Production Supervisor

1st Shift Production Supervisor This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States. Your focus would be coordinating production, taking the forefront in safety and quality, and employee engagement and compliance with regulatory needs. SAFETY is our core value. You will be responsible for coordinating and providing direction for the workflow and scheduling functions of a high volume, fast-paced manufacturing facility. This position is also responsible for managing production personnel and executing production for multiple departments. This is a collaborative environment. You will work with other team members to resolve production issues and employee relations and concerns.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area.
  • Sets a leading example by supporting and adhering to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring all tasks are performed using proper SOPs/GMPs, safety procedures and other regulations.
  • Ensures Pre-Operation Inspections are performed before starting the Shift/work orders.
  • Ensure inventory is accurate and properly maintained by following SOP and NBi.
  • Learn St. Albans' batching system, WEM.
  • Maintain accurate records of information such as daily receipts, inspection results, etc.
  • Must be able to direct others in keeping with production schedules and goals.
  • Monitor and update Workday time keeping as needed as well as approving time each week.
  • Lead, coach, train, direct, and discipline employees.
  • Partners with multiple departments to execute department orders and goals are met.
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree. and 1+ years leadership background OR High School degree with 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Ability to coordinate, provide direction, influence, and coach staff.
  • Ability to work with management to reach and maintain production schedules and goals.
  • Communicator, decision maker, quality orientation, technical/professional knowledge, customer focus, time management, and oriented toward process improvement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent Teamwork skills/ability to build positive relationships that promote teamwork and a positive working environment.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing processes and production flow.
  • Solid computer skills that include Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt and utilize other programs.
  • Solid time management and multitasking skills.
  • Solid understanding in Food safety and Manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure without supervision.
  • Willingness to help the production team by filling in on the line when short-handed.
  • Willingness to run production on Saturdays when needed.

Shift: 1st shift; 6:00 am - 3:30 pm M-F, occasional weekends/holidays. Plant operates 24 hours/5 days a week; weekends as needed. This role will mainly be day shift and other shifts as necessary to keep up with business needs. Salary Range: $70,800 - $106,200. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary range.
