Job summary

Dover Precision Components, located near Pearland in the Houston area, is seeking a 1st Shift Production Lead for Injection Molding. The role requires supervising staffing, leading lean initiatives, and operating CNC and related equipment to meet production targets.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of machinist shop experience and 5+ years manufacturing experience, with training in shop Math, blueprint reading, and GDT preferred. Benefits and discretionary bonus eligibility are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Production Supervisor to manage staffing and ensure production schedule.
  • Train employees to ensure procedures meet quality requirements.
  • Report quality, process, equipment, material, and labor issues to supervisor.
  • Provide daily production status for 9:00 a.m. production meeting.
  • Read drawings and specifications to perform machining operations.
  • Set up machines to achieve close tolerances and proper fit.
  • Attend Tier board meetings and collaborate with Safety, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering.

The 1st Shift production Lead (Injection Molding) will participate in all plant safety initiatives, report potentially unsafe conditions, and abide by corporate and local policies. This role will actively engage in lean manufacturing principles and techniques and actively participating in kaizen events, 5S activities, and continuously seeking improvement in the work area. This role will also operate CNC and other machines. This role is located at our facility near Pearland (11951 N. Spectrum Blvd, Houston TX 77047) and the hours are Mon-Fri 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Production Supervisor and other Leads to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, material, and labor to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • Provide job status information daily to Manufacturing Supervisor to prepare for 9:00 a.m. production meeting
  • Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
  • Performs machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
  • Attend and contribute to the Tier board meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments – Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, etc – to resolve issues.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of shop experience as a machinist and 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Technical training in shop math, blueprint reading, and GDT is preferred to perform the job.

Working Conditions
  • Exposure to normal machine shop environment with periodic noise.
  • Limited disagreeable factors present.
  • Illness or injury from materials present in normal working environment is unlikely.
  • PPE required included safety glasses, safety footwear, and may require hearing protection in certain area.
