Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Willard, Ohio is seeking a Pressroom Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will operate and adjust presses, cranes, and related equipment, perform changeovers, inspect parts and ensure safety.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, lift truck certification, and the ability to lift 40 lbs. Overtime may be required; training is provided and opportunities for growth across our global brands.

Qualifications

• Experience with die setting is preferred.
• Ability to pass all certifications required for the position.
• Must have a valid lift truck operator's license or successfully complete lift truck training.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work independently or with a group.
• Ability to learn to operate an automatic press, set up dies, and changeover jobs.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able read and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete production activities in the Press Room, including operation of automatic presses, cranes, lift trucks, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Operate and adjust feeding and handling equipment (e.g. coil cradle, coil leveling).
• Complete changeover jobs: setup of blanking dies, progressive dies, and transfer dies in a press.
• Visual inspection of in-process and finished parts.
• Use of tools and fixtures to check parts.
• Operate other production equipment as needed.
• Stacking of parts as needed.
• Maintain safe operation of presses and lift trucks; follow safety policies.
• Conduct material handling tasks as needed.
• Follow ISO standards and procedures for quality.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform tasks assigned by Stamping Supervisor or Group Leader.

What You’ll Do

As a Pressroom Operator, you’ll be part of our Pressroom team located in Willard, Ohio. You’ll get to:

• Complete production activities in the Press Room, including: Operation of automatic presses, cranes, lift trucks, and any other auxiliary equipment
• Operation and adjustment of feeding and handling equipment (e.g. coil cradle, coil leveling)
• Complete changeover jobs: setup of blanking dies, progressive dies, and transfer dies in a press
• Visual inspection of both in-process and finished parts
• Use of appropriate tools and fixtures to check parts
• Operate other production equipment, such as manual presses, based on the needs of the department
• Stacking of parts as needed
• Understand and ensure the safe operation of the presses, lift trucks, and other similar equipment
• Abide by all SBD Willard safety policies
• Conduct material handling tasks as needed
• Follow all applicable ISO standards & procedures to ensure quality standards are met
• Recognize concerns and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Perform departmental tasks assigned by the Stamping Supervisor or Group Leader
