Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance at the Des Moines plant. You will work under supervision to maintain plant equipment, install and repair machinery, and ensure safe operations in a rendering facility.

The role requires 2+ years in industrial maintenance, welding experience, and proficiency with plasma cutting and oxy-fuel torches, plus 2+ years operating aerial lifts. Weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
• 2+ years welding experience (stick/arc).
• 1+ year experience with plasma cutting and oxy-acetylene torch.
• 2+ years operating aerial lifts.
• Ability to work rotating weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all plant equipment and systems.
• Repair and install machinery including motors, gear boxes, conveyors, pumps, and piping.
• Conduct daily greasing and lubrication as needed.
• Diagnose and replace faulty components with minimal direction.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.; comply with safety rules and PPE requirements.
• Attend safety meetings and support the Safety Committee if needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Maintenance position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, gear boxes, screw conveyors, threading piping, weld piping, repair/replace pumps and uses cutting torch.
• Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnosis and replacement of equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 - year experience in industrial maintenance.
• Minimum of 2 - years experience with stick/arc welding.
• Minimum of 1-year experience using a plasma cutter and oxygen acetylene torch.
• Minimum of 2-year operating arial lifts.
• Must be able to work rotating weekend shifts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a slaughter/rendering plant
• Experience with high pressure boilers. Blowdowns, chemical testing etc.
• High mechanical aptitude; able to diagnosis repair problems with motors and other equipment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures.
