Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the assigned mall areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and common areas, ensuring supplies are stocked.
• Inspect restrooms, replenish paper products and soap.
• Maintain entrances, lobbies and high-visibility areas for a welcoming look.
• Clean and detail glass, mirrors, stainless steel and other polished surfaces.
• Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, and seating in common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors as appropriate.
• Handle trash/recycling and keep waste areas orderly.
• Respond quickly to spills and safe-cleaning needs to protect guests.

Position Summary

The First Shift Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of a premier luxury shopping mall. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, professionalism, and pride in maintaining an upscale shopping environment that reflects the quality and standards of the property.

The Housekeeper will maintain public restrooms, entrances, corridors, seating areas, and other designated common areas throughout the day. The successful candidate must be proactive, dependable, and committed to delivering exceptional cleaning services while working discreetly and professionally around shoppers, luxury retailers, mall management, and other guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout all assigned areas of the shopping mall.
• Clean, sanitize, and continuously maintain public restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, countertops, partitions, fixtures, and floors.
• Conduct routine restroom inspections and replenish paper products, hand soap, and other necessary supplies.
• Maintain entrances, lobbies, corridors, walkways, and other high-visibility areas to ensure a clean and welcoming appearance.
• Clean and detail glass doors, interior glass, mirrors, stainless steel, and other polished surfaces, removing fingerprints, smudges, and visible marks.
• Dust and wipe down furniture, decorative fixtures, display areas, railings, ledges, and seating throughout assigned common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors using appropriate products and procedures for the specific flooring materials and finishes.
• Maintain food court seating areas, common-area tables, and other designated public spaces.
• Empty trash and recycling containers, replace liners, and ensure waste disposal areas remain clean and orderly.
• Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and immediate cleaning needs to help maintain a safe and attractive environment.
• Perform frequent walkthroughs of assigned areas to identify and correct cleaning deficiencies before they become noticeable to guests.
• Maintain a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor when interacting with shoppers, tenants, vendors, and property management.
• Work discreetly and efficiently around mall guests without disrupting shopping activities or the operations of luxury retailers.
• Use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment safely and in accordance with established procedures.
• Protect marble, terrazzo, natural stone, polished metal, specialty flooring, and other high-end finishes by using approved cleaning methods and products.
• Report maintenance concerns, damage, safety hazards, supply shortages, and unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain cleaning carts, equipment, and janitorial closets in a clean, organized, and professional manner.
• Complete assigned checklists, inspections, and daily tasks according to company and property standards.
• Perform additional housekeeping and detail-cleaning duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in commercial housekeeping, hospitality, luxury retail, or high-end property maintenance is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards.
• Professional appearance, positive attitude, and excellent customer service skills.
• Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently while following established schedules, procedures, and instructions.

• Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures, chemical safety, and the care of different flooring and surface materials is preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, tenants, and guests.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform routine physical cleaning activities, with reasonable accommodation as applicable.

Performance Expectations

The First Shift Housekeeper is expected to:

• Maintain a consistently high level of cleanliness and presentation throughout the assigned work area.
• Complete routine inspections and address cleaning deficiencies promptly.
• Ensure restrooms and other high-traffic areas remain clean, sanitary, stocked, and presentable throughout the shift.
• Demonstrate professionalism and discretion when working around shoppers and luxury retailers.
• Follow all company policies, property procedures, and safety requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned areas and demonstrate initiative without requiring constant supervision.
• Communicate effectively with the supervisory team regarding operational needs and unresolved concerns.
• Represent the janitorial department and property in a professional manner at all times.
