WORKFORCE Employment Specialists, LLC is seeking a Hi-Lo / Material Handler for a busy Grand Rapids warehouse. You will receive inbound goods, move stock, replenish inventory, and load outbound shipments using forklifts, RF scanners, and pallet jacks.

This role requires accuracy, safety, and adaptability as daily tasks shift with warehouse priorities; candidates should have a high school diploma and forklift experience preferred, with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift/Hi-Lo to receive inbound products, move stored products, replenish inventory, and load outbound shipments.
  • Complete required paperwork and warehouse documentation accurately.
  • Tag outbound trucks for pickup and delivery.
  • Break down palletized loads as needed for staging and storage.
  • Use an RF scanner to check products into and out of the facility.
  • Perform bin audits throughout the warehouse using an RF scanner.
  • Accurately replenish product bins using an RF scanner and forklift.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts.
  • Pick products accurately from designated bin locations using an automated voice-pick system.
  • Read and identify product and bin numbers correctly.
  • Build pallets carefully to prevent product damage.
  • Use a powered pallet jack to move products throughout the warehouse.
  • Properly label and wrap outbound pallets.
  • Notify the shift supervisor of inventory or product discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Pick up and properly dispose of pallets, plastic, cardboard, paper, scrap wood, and other debris.
  • Assist with additional warehouse tasks and duties as assigned.

Job description

The Hi-Lo / Material Handler plays an important role in daily warehouse operations, with primary responsibilities including receiving, replenishment, product movement, and loading.

This position requires a high level of flexibility, as daily duties may change based on operational needs. The employee may also assist with order selection as needed.

The position routinely uses warehouse equipment including forklifts/Hi-Los, powered pallet jacks, RF scanners, box cutters, and tape dispensers. Employees must be comfortable working in an active warehouse environment and regularly handling products weighing between 10 and 60 pounds .

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active warehouse position . Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including:

  • Standing for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent walking throughout the warehouse.
  • Bending and stooping.
  • Kneeling and squatting.
  • Reaching, including reaching heights of approximately 60 inches or higher.
  • Handling and gripping products and equipment.
  • Regularly lifting and handling cases and products weighing up to 60 pounds .
  • Carrying products throughout the work area.
  • Pushing and pulling carts, pallet jacks, or other equipment with varying weights.
  • Climbing and using step ladders when required.
  • Safely operating powered warehouse equipment.
  • Maintaining the close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus necessary to safely perform job duties.
Work Environment & Expectations

This position requires employees to remain active throughout the workday and safely work around warehouse equipment, products, pallets, and other team members.

Employees are expected to:

  • Follow all safety procedures and equipment requirements.
  • Maintain productivity and accuracy throughout the shift.
  • Report safety concerns, damaged products, or inventory discrepancies promptly.
