Job summary

Tarkett is seeking a 1st shift Electrician for its Dalton, GA facility to support production through downtime troubleshooting and equipment improvements. The role involves installing equipment, running power drops (480VAC and under), wiring CAT5, and maintaining lighting and power distribution in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with maintenance, production and engineering, train junior staff, and align with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have electrical troubleshooting experience and basic electrical theory.
  • Experience with motors, VFDs, and motor controls.
  • Knowledge of wiring methods, conduit, and power distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install new equipment and run power drops (480VAC and under).
  • Perform routine electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with machine control debugging and integration with PLC/HMI systems.
  • Train less experienced electricians and coordinate with external suppliers.

The primary job responsibility is to support production through effective and timely equipment downtime troubleshooting. Develop and implement equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation.**Duties and Responsibilities:**### *Duties may include, but are not limited to the following activities. Some duties may be optional on an individual basis.** The *Electrician* will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor in the facility for which they are assigned. For emergency manufacturing and maintenance support, the electrician may receive direction from the director of maintenance, plant manager(s) or production manager.* The primary responsibility of the facility electrician is to install new equipment, run power drop to equipment (480VAC and under), CAT5 communication cable runs, facility lighting upkeep, infrared scanning of power distribution equipment, installation of power distribution systems, bend and run conduit, pull wire and general facility electrical maintenance and upkeep.* The *electrician* 1 may troubleshoot equipment and/or processes through the effective use of electrical theory, meters, equipment manuals and schematics and any other resource(s) available to him/her.* Daily communication and interface with suppliers may be required. This position is expected to effectively team with suppliers and original equipment manufacturers and will appropriately represent Tarkett.* Assist the maintenance staff in operational debug of machine controllers, motors, motor controls, sensors, and all other related components in a timely and efficient manner utilizing Tarkett standard techniques and approach.* The *Electrician* will train lesser experienced electricians and mechanics, thus improving the overall department skills and abilities.* Assist the appropriate engineer in machine validation, both internally and at the customer’s facility while maintaining Tarkett work ethics and standards.* Communicate with the project “team” to ensure a constant level of project awareness.* The *Electrician* will work closely with the controls engineer and/or automation technician, who is responsible for ensuring all schematics and/or back up programs of PLC’s, HMI, camera systems, etc, are kept current and correct.* Attend certain technical training classes, as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor, Controls Engineer or Director of Maintenance, and pass this knowledge along to peers and/or electrical maintenance personnel.* The *Electrician* is expected to be a self-starter, stay focused and on task with little or no supervision.* The *Electrician* is expected to advance his/her skills, abilities and knowledge so they are promotable to Electrician 2 and Controls Technician.*****Education and Experience****** High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 5 – 7 years related experience and/or technical training in Electrical* Troubleshooting, Basic Electricity, motors, VFD’s and motor controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Associate’s Degree in electrical/electronics engineering is a plus, but not required.
