Job summary

Steel Service in Mississippi is seeking an entry level shop laborer to support inventory, parts pulling and production patterning. You will operate overhead cranes, magnetic pick-ups, dollies, and forklifts to move heavy production parts in hot and cold environments.

Responsibilities include pulling parts, maintaining part memos, palletizing, and ensuring parts are ready before a job starts. This is a hands-on, physical role requiring safety awareness and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Past Construction or Machine Shop experience preferred.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to lift heavy items.

Responsibilities

• Pull parts for jobs to ensure they are available for fabrication.
• Maintain a parts memo for missing or incorrect items.
• Palletize parts, stage material and label with information.
• Ensure inventory parts are cut for a job before start.
• Ability to use a tape measure.
• Move materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, magnets or other equipment.
• Install protective devices to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Maintain equipment storage areas to protect inventory.

• Pull parts for jobs to ensure they are available for fabrication.
• Maintain a parts memo in cases where parts are missing or wrong for a job.
• Responsible for palletizing parts, stage material and marked with identifying information.
• Ensure that all inventory parts are cut for a job prior to the job start.
• Must be able to use a tape measure.
• Move materials to and from storage or production areas, by hand or using overhead cranes, forklifts, magnets, or other equipment.
• Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
• Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
