Job summary

George’s Foods in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking an Area Manager who will oversee the production area, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive quality outcomes across the plant. You will organize personnel, set daily targets for front line supervisors, and monitor production flow to optimize efficiency.

We value extensive HACCP and sanitation knowledge, strong communication skills, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Extensive knowledge of HACCP procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of plant sanitation procedures.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Preferred poultry or food manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
• Coordinate and direct all the production activities of their department.
• Organise personnel and set daily tasks for front line supervisors.
• Monitor production flow and schedule details to optimize efficiencies.
• Achieve budgeted production yields and minimize condemn poundage.
• Maintain standard manufacturing efficiencies in order to meet budget objectives.
• Identify areas of opportunity and recommend improvements on staffing, financial/cost and quality within the department.
• Meet product standards, while maintaining or improving product yield.
• Complete appropriate paperwork on a daily basis.
• Responsible for training and developing employees in all areas related to their jobs.
• Help develop objectives and standards for individual production lines and monitor results for process improvements.
• Observe work area as well as the plant to ensure that known hazards are reported or corrected, and that all safety reporting and accident investigations are handled in a timely manner.

SUMMARY

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree or related field or 4 years of relevant experience in progressively responsible roles
• 3 years of supervisory experience
• Extensive knowledge of HACCP procedures
• Extensive knowledge of plant sanitation procedures
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Preferred Poultry or food manufacturing experience
