Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of elementary education principles, practices and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching.
• Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Establish a flexible elementary grade program and class environment favorable to learning; teaching a broad range of subjects; motivating students to achieve maximum potential.
• Develops lesson plans and use of instructional materials; translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter and specified by state law and district procedures.
• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and other subjects as per approved course of study.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means; maintains student records and prepares progress reports.
