Job summary

Pratt Industries – San Antonio is seeking a 1st Assistant for the 2nd shift to support production presses. You will assist with setup, operation, cleanup, and help optimize production schedules to meet cost, quality, and service goals.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement. The position requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent), with 6 months of related experience and potential forklift certification.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months’ experience in a similar role or corrugating industry preferred.
  • Basic troubleshooting to keep equipment running.
  • Lift Truck Operator License may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the machine operator to ensure smooth machine operations and report issues.
  • Help with setup, operation, cleanup, and schedule adherence.
  • Monitor board quality and material quality to meet specs and safety.
  • Cross-train on different machines and participate in meeting production goals.

1st Assistant – 2nd Shift

Shift/Hours: Monday 1:45PM - 11:45PM ; Tuesday - Thursday 2:00PM - 12:00PM

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr

As 1st Assistant at Pratt Industries – San Antonio, you will play a crucial role in supporting operators on production presses by assisting with setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements. You’ll be involved in monitoring the quality of the materials, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and helping optimize production schedules to meet cost, quality, and service goals. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where safety and quality are top priorities.

Key Duties And Success Factors
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor product quality, including board quality, and address any defects or issues that arise.
  • Operational Efficiency: Assist the machine operator to ensure smooth machine operations, report any quality problems, and help optimize the production schedule.
  • Training & Development: Cross-train on different machines and equipment as needed, with the potential to move into operator roles.
  • Reporting & Maintenance: Complete reports in a timely manner and submit maintenance work orders for repairs as necessary.
  • Flexibility & Teamwork: Work collaboratively with others to meet production goals and adapt to changing needs
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. Candidates with prior experience in the Corrugating industry and 6 months’ experience in a similar role are
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving minor malfunctions to keep equipment running efficiently.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of equipment design, quality standards, and product specifications. Ability to use measuring tools and perform calculations for various metrics.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks. Specific vision abilities required for the job.
  • Certifications: Lift Truck Operator License may be required.
