Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC in Spartanburg, SC invites students to join as an Intern in Manufacturing Engineering / Technical Planning for Assembly Chassis & Powertrain during Spring 2027. You will engage with the Assembly Technical Planning team, gain hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, and contribute to project coordination and data reporting.

Responsibilities include supporting planning tasks, participating in reviews, and assisting in supplier management.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in a related field is required.
• Basic CAD software knowledge is expected.
• Digital database experience (Excel Macros, SharePoint, APEX) preferred.
• Must be enrolled as a student at an accredited US college/university.
• Able to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
• Must attach unofficial transcript and pass substance abuse test.

• Assist planners with chassis and powertrain assembly planning tasks.
• Gather and report data for weekly team deliverables.
• Participate in design reviews of new processes and equipment for Chassis/Powertrain.
• Manage project and supplier activities and track launch topics.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Manufacturing Engineering / Technical Planning Assembly Chassis & Powertrain Intern (Spring 2027)

Description:

• This position would provide key support to the Assembly Technical Planning department and give broad experience in automotive manufacturing processes to the candidate.
• Develop engineering and project management skills in a manufacturing environment
• Support the planning and coordination of assembly structure and equipment projects and modification activities with implementation and strategic focus within international, cross functional project teams.
• Assist planners daily with chassis and powertrain assembly planning tasks
• Gather and report data for weekly presentation of team deliverables
• Assist assembly planners with special equipment or new vehicle projects
• Review, create and modify process descriptions for continuous improvement within assembly
• Shutdown support and reporting
• Risk filter execution for assembly process and equipment
• Participate in Assembly concept developments and evaluations
• Participate in design reviews of new process and equipment related to Chassis and Powertrain
• Risk filter execution for assembly process and equipment
• Project Management and supplier management
• Launch topic tracking and resolution
• Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial/Systems Engineering preferred)
• Basic CAD Software knowledge
• Digital Database experience preferred (Excel Macros, Sharepoint, APEX, etc.)
• Self-driven to push projects and tasks forward.
• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
• Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
• Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
• Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
• Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
• MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
• Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
• THE WORK TERM DATES AREJanuary 11th – May 14th, 2027.
