Job summary

Schnucks Markets, Inc. is seeking a friendly cashier for part-time work. The role focuses on courteous customer service, accurate checkout, and handling multiple payment methods in a retail grocery setting.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing purchases, applying coupons, and bagging orders. Must be available evenings and weekends; training provided at store level.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Regular, reliable attendance is essential.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order.
• Able to handle cash, checks, debit/credit, EBT, WIC and other payment types.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand 4–8 hours.

Candidates MUST be available till 10pm and weekends to be considered.

This role is offering 20-25 hours per week.

This is not an official description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of checker to include the following:

DUTIES:

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer’s purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management

TRAINING

Training will be provided at store level.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Bending
• Stooping
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)

Additional Requirements – Internal Candidates:

• Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates:minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.
