Summary
The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and help them find stocked and in-date product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to, the following:
- Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
- Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor; remember that the guest comes first.
- Empty shopping cart onto register lane as needed.
- Stock shelves, front and dust product, and review for out-of-date items.
- Stock beer cooler, wine cooler, coke box, freezer, and/or deli case.
- Remove cases and/or boxes from the sales floor (other than organized case stack displays).
- Break down boxes not for store use and dispose of them properly.
- Keep boxes used for re-packing in organized stacks and maintain area regularly.
- Clean up broken items. Mop floors and put up Wet Floor signs if necessary; do not leave spills unattended.
- Sweep and mop the floor.
- Keep the parking lot clean of refuse and junk.
- Gather shopping carts from the parking lot regularly.
- Empty trash receptacles in store and outside as needed.
- Keep bathrooms clean and stocked.
- Keep bags well stocked at registers.
- Utilize proper lifting techniques.
- Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
- Load keg orders using keg lift if available; seek assistance if needed.
- Answer questions and provide information to guests.
- Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
- Suggestively sell add-on items to guests.
- May be asked to operate a cash register as needed.
- Carry-out or dolly-out merchandise at guest request; tips are accepted but not requested.
- Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
- Avoid personal cell phone use while on the sales floor.
- Prepare areas for inventory and assist in the process if needed.
- Other projects as assigned by management.
- May need to clean the restroom.
- Carry out directives of management efficiently.
- Perform responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
- Practice teamwork and cooperation.
- Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Stand, lift, carry, walk, bend, and reach routinely weighing 50 pounds or more; lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally using proper techniques.
- Attend work regularly and punctually.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. State law requires you to be over 21 to work at Spec's. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed:
- High school diploma or GED preferred; retail stocking experience is a plus but willingness to learn is sufficient.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math operations; a calculator can be provided.
- Friendly, responsible, reliable, and committed to excellent service; patient and outgoing personality.
- Strong work ethic and self-starter attitude.
- Full-time hours typically 35 hours/week; must be available for shifts on Friday and Saturday and 80% or more of all shifts.
- Part-time up to 25 hours/week.
- Must maintain valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and possibly a Food Handlers Permit. The course takes 2-3 hours, paid by the company, and the cost ($8) will be deducted from your paycheck.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and handle products weighing up to 100 pounds using proper techniques.
