Production Floor Person
Reports To: Department Supervisor Department: Production Location: Jacksonville Facility
Position Summary
The Production Floor Person provides operational support across manufacturing and production areas to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant production of quality products. This position performs a variety of production-related activities including material handling, product assembly, inspection, packaging, inventory movement, equipment operation, process monitoring, and production support functions.
The Production Floor Person serves as a flexible manufacturing resource and may provide relief coverage for production operators during breaks, absences, training activities, and operational needs. This role supports workforce development initiatives through cross-training, stretch assignments, and participation in developmental activities designed to prepare employees for advancement into higher-level technical and operational positions, including Mold Technician, Protech, Lead, and other production support roles.
The Production Floor Person works closely with production operators, technicians, quality personnel, and supervisors to maintain production flow, support departmental objectives, and ensure compliance with established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Support
- Assist production personnel in the manufacturing, assembly, finishing, packaging, and movement of products.
- Support daily production activities to ensure departmental schedules and productivity goals are achieved.
- Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment needed for production operations.
- Maintain product flow between work centers and support changeovers as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping activities to maintain an organized work environment.
- Provide break and relief coverage for production operators as assigned.
- Support multiple production areas based on business needs and training qualifications.
- Participate in cross-training, stretch assignments, and developmental opportunities that expand technical knowledge and operational capability.
- Develop skills and competencies necessary for progression into advanced manufacturing and technical positions.
Material Handling
- Move raw materials, components, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility.
- Ensure accurate identification, labeling, and traceability of materials and products.
- Follow established procedures for inventory movement, storage, and handling.
- Assist with material replenishment activities to support uninterrupted production operations.
- Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, Big Joe equipment, and other authorized material handling equipment in accordance with company procedures and certification requirements.
- Safely transport production materials while maintaining product integrity and traceability.
- Maintain required equipment certifications and qualifications.
Quality and Inspection
- Perform visual inspections and basic quality checks according to established procedures and specifications.
- Verify product conformance and identify potential quality concerns.
- Support containment and segregation of nonconforming products when necessary.
- Assist with data collection, measurements, and quality documentation.
- Utilize measuring devices and equipment as required for inspections and process verification.
- Escalate quality concerns, process deviations, or potential nonconformances to supervision as required.
Equipment Operation
- Operate approved production equipment, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, Big Joe equipment, scales, material handling equipment, and support tools following established procedures and training requirements.
- Conduct basic equipment checks before use and report equipment issues promptly.
- Support setup and operation of manufacturing equipment as directed.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain authorization and qualification status for all assigned equipment.
- Assist technical personnel with equipment-related tasks as appropriate to training and qualification level.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety standards at all times.
- Safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, Big Joe equipment, powered industrial trucks, and other authorized equipment in accordance with company training and certification requirements.
- Participate in safety training and report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
- Follow job hazard analysis requirements and established work instructions.
- Immediately report safety concerns, equipment damage, near misses, and workplace hazards.
Documentation and Communication
- Accurately complete production, inspection, inventory, and equipment records.
- Maintain compliance with documentation, labeling, and traceability requirements.
- Communicate production concerns, quality issues, and operational needs to supervisors and team members.
- Participate in shift meetings and continuous improvement activities.
- Document material movements and operational activities as required by procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
- Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, assembly, or material handling experience preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or powered industrial equipment is preferred.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is beneficial but not required.
Required Certifications / Licensures
- Must successfully complete and maintain company-required certification for:
- Forklift Operation
- Electric Pallet Jack Operation
- Big Joe Equipment Operation
- Must remain qualified and authorized to operate assigned powered industrial equipment.
- Additional certifications or qualifications may be required based on department needs and assigned responsibilities.

Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moving equipment, machinery, and production materials.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
- Frequent operation of powered industrial vehicles and material handling equipment.
