Job summary

The Met invites applications for an interdisciplinary fellowship that supports independent research across disciplines using Met resources to connect cultures and collections, bridging arts, humanities, and sciences. Fellows are embedded in a Museum department but collaborate with colleagues across the organization.

The 12‑month term runs Sept 1, 2027–Aug 31, 2028. Stipends are $53,000 for junior fellows and $63,000 for senior fellows.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree at MA level or higher required.
• Junior fellowships awarded to PhD students applying by the deadline date.
• Senior fellowships awarded to PhD holders or established scholars.

Responsibilities

• Pursue proposed projects within a supportive network of departmental supervisors, fellow cohort members, and staff.
• Embed within a Museum department while collaborating with colleagues across the Met.
• Be in residence at The Met for the full 12-month term.
