Job summary

Baptist Health in Alabama is seeking an RN Charge Nurse to coordinate and evaluate unit activities and ensure quality patient care during the assigned shift. You will report to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and serve as a mentor to nursing staff.

The Charge Nurse will model nursing process, quality standards, and hospital policies, with additional duties as assigned within the role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year staff nurse experience.
• Active RN licensure required; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and evaluate unit activities for quality patient care during the assigned shift.
• Mentor nursing staff and provide direction on the nursing process and standards.

Highlights

Summary: The RN - Charge Nurse shall be responsible to facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate unit activities for the provision of quality patient care during the assigned shift. This individual is responsible to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager and will serve as a mentor to the staff. The Charge Nurse shall demonstrate the consistent ability to act as a role model by providing direction in the application of the nursing process, quality improvement standards, and organizational and department goal and objectives in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience

Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Minimum 1 year staff nurse experience required.

License/Certification

Active RN licensure required, BLS required, Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds or greater. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
