Job summary

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant Resource 1:1 for a short-term leave cover at Traughber Junior High School from 9/9/26 to 10/9/26. Under a licensed special education teacher, you’ll model skills and support IEP goals while following behavioral plans.

The role involves classroom support, lunchroom and various settings, with duties including assisting students with disabilities and collaborating with staff to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Educator License or equivalent is required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication ability.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and assist up to 50 pounds.
• Experience with students with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with disabilities with academic, behavioral, social and functional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all aspects of work with students with disabilities and other staff.
• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans to reinforce learning concepts.
• Promotes independence of students with disabilities.
• Documents students' daily activities and progress.
• Monitors students in various settings to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Provides specialized handling or care of students as needed.
• Communicates with teachers and staff to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Maintains a safe and clean learning environment and participates in meetings.
