Job summary

Bethel School District is seeking a Paraeducator for mainstream special education at Cedarcrest Middle School (High-Needs School). The role is a 1:1 support position with a fixed schedule and state-mpecified training requirements.

Position involves assisting certificated staff, supervising students, and helping with instructional activities, records, and safety. Hiring is contingent on board approval and completion of required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must meet federal minimum employment requirements: 18 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent; plus one of several options such as ParaPathways/AA/72 quarter credits/44 semester credits, or apprenticeship program, or completion of Paraeducator online training.

Responsibilities

• Instructs students individually or in small groups to promote understanding of materials.
• Communicates with certificated staff about student progress and adjusts methods for diverse needs.
• Maintains records, logs, and charts for assessment of progress; may correct or grade papers per guidelines.
• Supervises behavior in classrooms, play areas, lunch, bus areas, and field trips to promote safe conduct.
• Assists students with interpersonal and personal skills mastery.
• Establishes communication with students, staff, parents, and the public for progress and safety.
• Provides physical assistance to handicapped students when needed.
• Monitors need for first aid or other immediate support as appropriate.
