Job summary

Community Council Health Systems is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Specialist in a school-based setting to provide individualized mental health interventions and academic support. The role works under the program director within the IEP team to implement clinical interventions aligned with FBA and Behavior Support Plans.

The position requires a HS diploma (Bachelor's preferred), at least one year working with youth, and crisis intervention training.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience with children and adolescents.
  • Appropriate state background checks (e.g., PA-Act 33/34 Clearance).
  • Training and experience in crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized mental health interventions and academic support in the school setting.
  • Supervised one-to-one interventions by the program director as part of the IEP team.
  • Implement sound clinical interventions to enable the client to function in the least restrictive setting.
  • Provide clinical data (e.g., behavioral observations) to support the behavior plan/FBА.
  • Assist in development and implementation of behavioral goals as specified in the FBA/Behavior Support Plan.
  • Respond to emergencies and notify the director to promote stabilization.
  • Maintain progress notes reflecting IEP/FBA goals and meet weekly with the director.
  • Collaborate with IEP team; present updates during meetings as requested.
  • Follow incident reporting procedures and company Code of Conduct.

The goal is to implement sound clinical interventions and support services to enable the client to be maintained and function appropriately in the least restrictive setting.

General Overview Of Key Roles & Responsibilities

Provide individualized mental health interventions and academic support services in the school setting. The one to one is supervised by the program director as apart of the IEP team. The goal is to implement sound clinical interventions and support services to enable the client to be maintained and function appropriately in the least restrictive setting. ESSENTIAL & CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Provide the IEP team or other pertinent professionals with clinical data (e.g., behavioral observations) to support the behavior support plan/FBA, as well as engaging the client in age appropriate therapeutic activities.
  • As directed by the director to assist in the development and implementation of behavioral goals and other therapeutic interventions as specified in the FBA and Behavior Support Plan.
  • Respond appropriately to cases that have emergency needs and respond all information immediately to the director to further promote stabilization.
  • Use supervision/consultation effectively to improve the quality of therapeutic services.
  • Maintain an ongoing dialogue regarding client\'s progress toward behavior goals with the IEP team.
  • Present periodic updates (e.g., progress toward goals) during annual IEP meetings and/or conferences as requested by the director, school district or other IEP team members.
  • Ensure that all daily progress notes for therapeutic services, or written documents clearly reflect behavior goals that are indicated in the IEP/FBA
  • Maintain the appropriate intervention hours via face-to-face contact specified in the IEP.
  • Meet weekly with the director to discuss client\'s progress towards his behavior goals.
  • Work collaboratively with IEP team members and use supervision/conclusion effectively to improve the quality of therapeutic services.
  • Follow Community Council for Mental Health and Mental Retardation special incidents reporting procedures and provide the Behavioral Specialist Consultant with information on potential issues of safety and ethical/confidentiality dilemmas.
  • Adhere to all of the Community Council for Mental Health and Mental Retardation personnel policies and the Community Council for Mental Health and Mental Retardation Code of Conduct.

Prerequisites & Qualifications For The Position
