Job summary

Nteasee Tutors seeks a compassionate, dependable 1:1 paraprofessional to support a student with autism in a New York City public school.

The role involves providing individualized academic, social, and behavioral support within the school day, implementing ABA-based strategies, and collaborating with teachers and specialists. Evening/health benefits are not included as this is a contract position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Knowledge of ABA strategies is preferred.
• Experience supporting behavioral, developmental, communication, or learning needs.
• Ability to follow IEPs and behavior plans with guidance from professionals.
• Strong communication, patience, professionalism, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary educational team.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to the student during the school day.
• Assist participation in classroom instruction and transitions.
• Implement strategies outlined in the IEP and BIP as directed.
• Utilize ABA-based approaches including reinforcement and prompts.
• Support behavioral strategies and reduce escalations as needed.
• Help the student develop independence in academics and social tasks.
• Support communication and appropriate social interactions with staff.
• Maintain data on behavior and skills as directed.
