Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is hiring a paraprofessional/behavior aide to support K-12 students with intensive behavioral needs.

You will work one-on-one to help meet goals in each student’s IEP, implement and modify behavior support plans, and track progress with data in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required or preferred.
  • Experience in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a setting with diverse students from varying developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • One-on-one work with an assigned student to meet goals in their IEP, providing accommodations and modifications as necessary.
  • Assist in development and modification of behavior support plans.
  • Implement behavior support plans; record and track data on behaviors, progress toward goals, and incidents.
  • Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain safety.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages development of social and behavioral skills.
  • Supervise students and ensure they are monitored at all times, including travel to/from locations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure consistent implementation of plans.
  • Provide personal care support dependent on student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents.

Posted Salary Range

USD $29,000.00 - USD $29,000.00 /Yr.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
  • Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being
