Job summary

Pella Cooperative Electric is seeking an Apprentice Lineman to join our team in south-central Iowa. The 1,000-hour program emphasizes overhead and underground line work, with safety first and OSHA/ANSI standards guiding all activities.

The role requires the ability to safely drive and operate trucks and heavy equipment, and to operate aerial lift equipment as directed by supervision. Applicants must meet physical requirements and safety rules for a demanding field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Lineman school diploma or verified competency in electric distribution desired.
• Valid Class A CDL is required or easily obtainable.
• Previous utility experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with overhead and underground power line construction and maintenance.
• Safely operate trucks and heavy equipment and direct aerial lift use.
• Follow safety procedures per OSHA, ANSI, and company Operating Procedures.

Position Summary

This position will work closely with our team to develop the knowledge, ability, and other qualifications to perform the duties of a 1,000- hour Apprentice Lineman. The work will involve overhead and underground power line construction and maintenance. A 1,000- hour Apprentice Lineman must have the ability to safely drive and operate trucks and heavy equipment, and the ability to operate and direct aerial lift equipment. Applicants must meet the physical requirements of the job which include heavy lifting and operating machinery; also required to meet all safety requirements set forth by Pella Cooperative Electric's Operating Procedures along with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Required Education/Experience

• High school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent.
• Diploma from an accredited Power Lineman school or competency with electric distribution system attained through experience.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Previous utility experience is a plus.
