  • Ability to operate various types of light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  • Ability to read, comprehend service and equipment repair manuals, gauges and testing devices.
  • Knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication operations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment related to construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment.
  • Diagnose vehicle, equipment or asset failures and recommend outsourcing for major repairs when needed.
  • Prepare equipment for emergencies and perform on-the-road repairs to reduce downtime.
  • Prepare, process and maintain maintenance and repair documentation and close-out work orders in the computer system.
  • Perform repairs and overhauls to engines, transmissions, driveline components, electrical and computer systems, and more.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to PM schedule.
  • Perform safety inspections under Virginia State Police Inspection program.
  • Welding repair and fabrication to repair, rebuild or replace parts.

Job description

Diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment related to construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment of all types and in varied locations.

How you will contribute:
  • Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose vehicle, equipment or asset failures using electronic testing equipment, service and equipment repair manuals and on-line resources. Recommend outsourcing for major repairs when needed.
  • Emergency Operations: Prepare equipment for emergency operations. Make equipment repairs to reduce downtime during emergency operations to include on-the-road repairs.
  • Information Processing and Paperwork: Prepare, process, and maintain required maintenance and repair documentation. Generate, complete and close-out work orders in computer system. Perform time and leave entry. Prepare parts requests. Complete paperwork for warranty inspections and repairs.
  • Perform Repair Work: Perform repairs and overhauls to all types of automobiles, equipment and tools to include engines, transmissions, driveline components, electrical and computer systems, fuel injection systems, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic components and air brakes.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment or assets according to PM schedule and guidelines. Make repairs as needed when deficiencies are found or recommend outsourcing.
  • Virginia State Inspections: Perform safety inspections under the guidelines of the Virginia State Police Inspection program for vehicles and equipment.
  • Welding Repair and Fabrication: Design, fabricate, modify, and weld components to repair, rebuild, or replace parts.

  • Virginia State Inspection License - Class A
