This involves coordinating with various stakeholders, warehouses, and transportation providers. The primary goal of a freight traffic controller is to ensure that shipments are delivered on time, in good condition, and keep accurate records of what is in the yard at all times. To achieve this, they must have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
In either case, their role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain. They must also be able to adapt to unexpected disruptions, such as natural disasters or transportation network congestion. By doing so, they can help ensure that goods are delivered safely and efficiently, and that the needs of customers are met. Freight traffic managers play a vital role in supporting economic growth.
Tasks are very complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
