Medifast in Owings Mills, MD is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely move materials and finished goods within the distribution and manufacturing areas. You will operate PIT equipment, perform daily inspections, and ensure accurate inventory movements.

Overview of Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials, inventory, and finished goods within assigned operational areas. This role supports facility operations through the operation of powered industrial truck (PIT) equipment, inventory movement, material staging, loading and unloading activities, and adherence to company safety and operational standards.


Job Responsibilities

Safely operate powered industrial truck (PIT) equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material-handling equipment. Load, unload, move, stack, retrieve, stage, and store materials, inventory, and finished goods safely and accurately. Complete put aways and inventory movements in assigned storage locations without product damage. Maintain accurate inventory movement transactions and communicate inventory discrepancies or location variances promptly. Support inbound and outbound shipment activities including loading and unloading trailers. Perform daily PIT equipment inspections and report equipment concerns or maintenance needs. Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and safe forklift operating procedures at all times. Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and operational work areas. Assist with palletizing, stacking, manual material handling, and housekeeping activities as required. Support inventory control activities and material tracking processes. Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, transportation personnel, and cross‑functional teams. Perform additional duties and operational support activities as assigned. Specific daily duties may vary based on assigned facility operations and business needs.


Additional Responsibilities – Distribution Center Operations

Execute replenishment and put away activities to support fulfillment and warehouse operations. Move palletized materials to designated staging areas for warehouse order fulfillment activities. Maintain productivity standards for pallet movements and inventory transfers. Support fulfillment operations through timely movement of inventory and materials. Operate reach trucks, electronic pallet jacks, and additional PIT equipment as required. Assist with trailer loading, unloading, and dock operations. Support battery charging, battery rotation, and PIT equipment maintenance activities as required. Back‑fill shipping or warehouse support functions as needed.


Additional Responsibilities – Manufacturing Operations

Transport raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to designated production and storage areas. Support material pull‑list activities and deliver materials to production areas as scheduled. Stage and palletize products for manufacturing operations and outbound shipment preparation. Support cGMP, safety, allergen control, and regulated material handling requirements. Maintain accurate handling and segregation of materials and packaging components. Participate in equipment cleaning and warehouse sanitation activities to support manufacturing standards. Support packaging or production‑related operational activities as required.


Scope

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating powered industrial truck equipment to support the safe and efficient movement, storage, staging, and transportation of materials and inventory within assigned facility operations. Operational duties vary by location and may support either distribution center operations or manufacturing operations depending on assignment. Operators are required to successfully complete company PIT certification and maintain compliance with all OSHA and company safety requirements.


Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities

High school diploma or GED preferred. Applicable experience may be substituted. Minimum of six months to one year of forklift operation experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred. Experience operating stand‑up forklifts, sit‑down forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and related PIT equipment preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain company PIT certification. Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and safe forklift operating procedures. Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Familiarity with inventory movement, order pulling, palletizing, and warehouse operations. Ability to work around computerized inventory systems and warehouse technology. Strong attention to detail and ability to work safely in a fast‑paced operational environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as business needs require. Experience working in regulated manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environments preferred.


Salary

The salary range for this position is: $18.62 - $25.79
