A multinational defence organisation is planning the next generation of the communications systems that deploy with its forces. This role is the technical authority on what comes next: assessing technologies, finding the gaps, and saying plainly what should be adopted.
What you would be doing
- Advising the programme director on future deployable communications technologies.
- Assessing current systems and performing capability gap analyses.
- Developing technical recommendations for modernisation initiatives.
- Taking part in architecture reviews and supporting strategic planning.
- Evaluating commercial and government-developed technologies for deployed use.
- Producing technical evaluation reports and delivering technical briefings.
- Evaluating how future technologies integrate with existing architectures, and how they interoperate with legacy systems, mission networks and enterprise services.
- Supporting operational test and evaluation, and reviewing post-exercise findings.
- Running technical risk assessments and recommending mitigations.
What you would bring
- A university degree in computer science, information technology, computer or electrical engineering, telecommunications or an equivalent field.
- At least three years supporting enterprise or tactical communications systems.
- At least three years of demonstrated expertise in one or more of cloud computing, network automation, enterprise networking or tactical networking.
- Experience with satellite communications, cyber security, zero trust or AI-assisted network management.
- Experience in deployable communications or signals as a subject matter expert.
- At least three years supporting capability development and integrating emerging technologies.
- At least three years of technical analysis, written findings and technical briefings.
- At least three years in an alliance or multinational military environment.
- Fluent professional English.
This is a long engagement that renews year on year, not a short project.
