Job description

Relocation to the United States — Norfolk, Virginia. We provide the NATO-5 visa.

A multinational defence organisation is planning the next generation of the communications systems that deploy with its forces. This role is the technical authority on what comes next: assessing technologies, finding the gaps, and saying plainly what should be adopted.

  • Advising the programme director on future deployable communications technologies.
  • Assessing current systems and performing capability gap analyses.
  • Developing technical recommendations for modernisation initiatives.
  • Taking part in architecture reviews and supporting strategic planning.
  • Evaluating commercial and government-developed technologies for deployed use.
  • Producing technical evaluation reports and delivering technical briefings.
  • Evaluating how future technologies integrate with existing architectures, and how they interoperate with legacy systems, mission networks and enterprise services.
  • Supporting operational test and evaluation, and reviewing post-exercise findings.
  • Running technical risk assessments and recommending mitigations.
What you would bring
  • A university degree in computer science, information technology, computer or electrical engineering, telecommunications or an equivalent field.
  • At least three years supporting enterprise or tactical communications systems.
  • At least three years of demonstrated expertise in one or more of cloud computing, network automation, enterprise networking or tactical networking.
  • Experience with satellite communications, cyber security, zero trust or AI-assisted network management.
  • Experience in deployable communications or signals as a subject matter expert.
  • At least three years supporting capability development and integrating emerging technologies.
  • At least three years of technical analysis, written findings and technical briefings.
  • At least three years in an alliance or multinational military environment.
  • Fluent professional English.

This is a long engagement that renews year on year, not a short project.
