Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Senior VMware Engineer to join our team supporting a Unified Automation Platform for a large enterprise client. You will build and maintain VMware automation modules as part of an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) enabling consistent provisioning across Azure and on‑prem VMware environments.

You will work with Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible, leverage AI-assisted development with GitHub Copilot, and collaborate with architects to deliver reliable, scalable virtualization

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience building and operating VMware automation.
• Expertise in vSphere, DRS, and vSAN via Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
• Experience with VMware test cycles incl. paired-site and failover testing for HCX/SRM.
• Knowledge of NSX-T network segmentation and DFW concepts.
• Skills in Windows guest customization (cloudbase-init) and Linux cloud-init patterns.
• Proficiency as a combined Terraform and Ansible developer.
• Ability to work AI-assisted using GitHub Copilot.
• Excellent written and spoken English (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain Terraform/OpenTofu modules for vSphere VM provisioning and related configs.
• Build and execute Ansible playbooks for post-provisioning configuration on VMware VMs.
• Deliver DRS, vSAN modules and site recovery/test cycle support.
• Coordinate with Network Architect on NSX-T and DFW rule implementation.
• Troubleshoot production issues across VMware automation modules.
• Contribute to module testing and documentation per IaC Engine standards.
• Support HCX/SRM and site pairing workflows; participate in validation activities.
