Turkish Airlines Technology is seeking a senior Java engineer to join our development team in Istanbul. You will design, develop, and integrate software solutions, drive architectural decisions and mentor teammates in end-to-end delivery.

We expect 5+ years in enterprise Java, strong Spring Framework/Boot experience, and a passion for AI-powered tooling and modern cloud-native patterns. The role offers challenging projects, collaboration across departments and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience building large-scale enterprise software using Java.
• Strong multithreading, concurrency and distributed systems experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools to improve coding productivity.
• Familiarity with AI-driven development practices including prompt engineering.
• Interest in emerging technologies like AI, cloud-native architectures.
• Solid foundation in CS fundamentals: OO design, data structures, algorithms and design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience with web services, enterprise messaging and Java EE servers.
• Ability to lead technical discussions across cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job description

The person who will take part in development team by reporting to the team lead & manager in the relevant solution department of our company, to carry out backend development activities and to work in coordination with other departments.

This position will be

• Work in the design, application development and integration area in software projects
• Contribute to all aspects of development beginning from feasibility, requirements, technology stack and workflow to coding standards and best practices.
• Determine business, functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
• Revise and maintain the applications in compliance with the new needs arising within the software life cycle

How do we describe the perfect match?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS or related departments
• Strong coding skills with 5+ years of experience building large-scale enterprise software systems using Java technologies, with the ability to drive technical decisions, mentor team members, and take ownership of end-to-end solution delivery.
• Proven experience of multithreading, concurrency & parallel programming , designing scalable systems or complex distributed systems
• Proven experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools to improve coding productivity, software quality, debugging, testing, documentation and development workflows.
• Familiarity with modern AI-driven development practices, including prompt engineering, AI-assisted code generation, automated testing, documentation generation and developer productivity workflows.
• Passion for continuously exploring emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, Agentic AI, automation platforms, and cloud-native architectures, and applying them to solve complex business problems.
• A strong foundation of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and design patterns, with hands-on experience in Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Experience in web services and web service standards, and with enterprise messaging and integration technologies (event streaming, message brokers, integration/routing frameworks) and Java EE application servers
• Experience in software architecture and system design, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, challenge the status quo, and lead technical discussions across cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects at one time
