Job summary

PlusMinusOne in Istanbul is seeking a Backend Developer to build production-grade services in Node.js/TypeScript, design scalable REST APIs, and own critical components from day one. You’ll work on backend systems powering our mobile apps, with a strong emphasis on clean architecture, testability, and performance.

The role is hybrid, with 3 days a week at our Kabataş Istanbul office, and opportunities to influence product direction while collaborating with a global team in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building production backend services with Node.js/TypeScript.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL and Redis — schema design, indexing, query performance.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Comfortable with Docker and containerized deployments; hands-on Kubernetes experience is a strong plus.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and designing CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of AWS (EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, Secrets Manager).
• Able to debug real problems from logs and metrics (Prometheus / Grafana).
• Strong grasp of clean architecture and fundamental design principles for scalable systems.
• Strong analytical and time management skills, and a track record of working well in an agile team.
• Product-minded: you care about user impact and can push back on requirements when needed.

Responsibilities

• Building backend services for our mobile and web products from the ground up.
• Designing and refining integrations between our applications and third‑party services.
• Deploying and operating services on Kubernetes — scaling, tuning and keeping them healthy in production.
• Owning what you ship: monitoring, alerting and debugging your services in production.
• Working with our event and data pipelines that power product analytics.
• Bringing new technology and ideas to the table.
• Influencing cross‑team initiatives and mentoring mid‑level and junior backend engineers.
• Participating in planning, estimating tasks, reviewing code and pairing with teammates.
