Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and scale intelligent applications leveraging LLMs and agent-based architectures. You'll bridge backend and frontend quality, tracing issues from UI to agent reasoning, while delivering robust async Python and React UI components.

Ideal candidates have deep backend skills with frontend awareness, experience in Docker/Kubernetes, and strong testing habits using pytest and vitest, with English at B2 level or higher.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python, FastAPI, and async patterns.
• Hands-on with agent frameworks (pydantic-ai, LangGraph, LangChain).
• Experience with RAG systems and vector search tools (Qdrant, pgvector).
• Strong React (hooks) and CSS for complex, responsive UIs.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and debugging.
• Testing experience with pytest and vitest.

Responsibilities

• Design async endpoints, background tasks, and streaming responses with Python and FastAPI.
• Build and maintain agent-based systems including prompts and tool-calling.
• Diagnose LLM failures like hallucination and non-deterministic outputs.
• Improve retrieval quality via chunking, embeddings, and vector search.
• Develop production-grade React UIs with responsive layouts and streaming state.
• Address concurrency issues and shared state across requests.
• Operate within Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Contribute to test coverage with pytest and vitest, including mocks.
• Trace issues across frontend, backend, and agent layers for reliability.
