EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to assess how current models are built and applied, identify weaknesses, and propose improvements based on sound mathematical and operations research principles. You will evaluate formulations and select appropriate optimization methods for complex problems in collaboration with technical teams.

The role emphasizes practical improvements, documentation, and clear communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in optimization, operations research, or applied mathematics.
• In-depth knowledge of convex optimization, including convexity, duality, and optimality conditions.
• Strong command of linear programming, including formulation, simplex and interior-point methods, sensitivity analysis, and duality.
• Very good understanding of linear and non-linear programming, including their theory, solution methods, and limitations.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsabilités

• Assess whether current models are built with the right approach and identify weaknesses.
• Assess whether problems are modeled as linear, non-linear, or convex formulations.
• Determine suitability of linear vs non-linear programming methods for each problem.
• Suggest clear, actionable improvements to models, methods, and solution approaches.
• Document recommended changes and findings for stakeholders and technical teams.
