The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that product quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance are met within our cable/wire harness manufacturing operations. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS in compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (for automotive), and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Customer and Supplier Quality: Manage customer complaints, returns, and warranty claims, leading Root Cause Analysis and implementing permanent Corrective Actions (CAPA). Oversee Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes.
- Process and Product Quality: Define quality control points and procedures. Effectively utilize quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, and Flowcharts.
- Audits and Compliance: Manage internal and external audits. Plan and ensure the execution of CAPA in response to audit findings.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, scrap, and rework rates, utilizing methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Reporting and Analysis: Collect, analyze, and regularly report quality metrics (DPMO, customer satisfaction, cost of poor quality, etc.) to senior management.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and inspection teams.
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial), or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Quality Management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the wire harness, cable assembly, or automotive (Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier) industry.
- Certifications: Certification as a Quality Engineer (ASQ CQE) or similar professional quality certification is highly desirable.
- QMS Expertise: Demonstrated experience in implementing, maintaining, and auditing QMS standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
Required Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of wire harness manufacturing processes, crimping technology, soldering standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620), and electronic testing methods.
- Quality Tools Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of core quality tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D problem-solving.
- Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (and local language, if required).
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions.
