IT Technician / Senior IT Assistant

The Centre for Comparative Medicine Research (CCMR) is a rapidly expanding, AAALAC International accredited, academic research-support centre of the LKS Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). It is committed to the provision of high‑quality laboratory animals, well‑equipped animal holding facilities, and professional services to support HKU’s leading role in research and teaching. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain form systems and related applications;
  • Utilize OutSystems for rapid application development and integration;
  • Automate processes using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages);
  • Manage, optimise, and troubleshoot databases (Oracle, MySQL);
  • Write, debug, and maintain programs to ensure smooth operations;
  • Support web‑based application development and system integration;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, produce documentation, and follow DevOps practices;
  • Liaise with internal administrative offices/departmental users and external solutions consultants; and
  • Assist with ad‑hoc projects assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Higher diploma or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines;
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, PHP frameworks, Python, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and HTML;
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform and related technologies, including Power Apps (Model‑Driven and Canvas), Power BI, Power Automate, Microsoft 365, Teams and SharePoint;
  • Experience in form system development;
  • Exposure to Generative AI and data technologies, such as large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, ChatGPT, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), data mining and data visualization;
  • Good documentation skills and attention to detail;
  • Good critical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and communication skills.

Candidates with higher qualifications or more experience may be considered for appointment as IT Technician. Fresh graduates will also be considered.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
