Qualifications

  • Experience in EHS system management, especially ISO14000/OHSAS45001.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Hungarian; Chinese is a plus.

Job description

About the role

As a professional EHS engineer, you will lead BYD's European factory in creating an EHS internal management system and supervise the implementation of all production departments. The compliance procedures of safety and environmental management during the construction process of BYD's European factory require your participation and support.

As EHS Engineer - European PQE you will:

  1. Keep EHS compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant EHS legal / regulatory requirements and with EHS policy and performance requirements.
  2. Assist in handling government approval procedures related to safety and environment.
  3. Implement the EHS corrective action to achieve zero accident and drive zero accident culture.
  4. Identify and improve the occupational health in the factory to meet the occupational standards and regulations to protect employees’ health.
  5. Assist with risk assessment and improvement to reduce site safety risk.
  6. Responsible for setting up, implementing, and maintaining the EHS system (Inc.: ISO14001, OHSAS45001, work safety standardization) to comply with relevant national regulations and BYD global EHS standards.
  7. Assist in maintaining and implementing EHS policies, procedures, and management programs.
  8. Organize and coordinate fire prevention/fire protection training including emergency evacuation drills, do site re-checks, and ensure all firefighting systems are in good status.
  9. Plan and carry out EHS training for staff and operators (three-level education) to enhance employees’ EHS awareness.
  10. Responsible for planning and organizing weekly/monthly regular EHS audits, inspections, and follow-up to improve non-conformities and stop safety violations.
  11. Ensure that regular inspections and risk assessments are carried out, recorded, and completed.
  12. Responsible for subcontractor and supplier site safety management programs (training/hot work/contractor operations application approved/site supervision) to ensure that line management and any on-site contractors/visitors are aware of risks and control arrangements.
  13. Responsible for special equipment safety management and supervision, and special operation site audits, supervision, and inspection to ensure they can work well.
  14. Ensure that concerns are reported to the EHS leader in a timely manner.
  15. Ensure accidents and near misses are investigated.
  16. Responsible for security management to keep security services meeting the company's requirements.
  17. Other work assigned by Supervisor.

Your profile:

  1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in safety/environmental or relevant engineering field;
  2. Great experience in EHS system management (ISO14000/OHSAS45001), familiar with Hungarian safety and environmental management requirements.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hungarian, Chinese language capabilities will be a plus;
  4. Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output;
  5. Assertive, optimistic, resilient, and welcoming of change;
  6. Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working together;
  7. You have a creative mind and strong analytical skills.
