CACTUS Communications is seeking an Editor to evaluate and refine research manuscripts, ensuring scientific accuracy and discipline-specific clarity while enhancing language quality. You will help researchers publish cutting-edge work in prestigious journals.

The role leverages subject-matter expertise to review manuscripts, preserve authors' meaning, and adhere to journal guidelines, with flexible scheduling and a predictable monthly workload as benefits.

Qualifications

• A PhD degree in Public Health or Epidemiology (mandatory).
• Strong publication record, with 5–10 or more first-author publications (mandatory).
• Ability to critically assess study design, methodology, statistics, and interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English and attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing or academic publishing is preferred.

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve the clarity, coherence, and readability of scientific content while preserving the authors’ intended meaning.
• Ensure that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
• Improve the presentation of complex research findings to enhance their communication and publication readiness.
• Edit manuscripts such that the final text meets the highest standards of academic writing, is free of unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences. Adhere to job-specific guidelines and format manuscripts according to the target journal when required.
