Database Specialist

So, what responsibilities does the Database Specialist take on at Otokoç Otomotiv?
  • Perform database installation, configuration, performance management, and update processes.
  • Collaborate with the software development team to make improvements in design, performance, and manageability on existing databases.
  • Monitor database performance and security, optimize according to software needs.
  • Conduct checks to ensure the healthy operation of databases and big data systems.
  • Take backups for the continuity of databases and big data systems, and perform return tests and controls in this regard.
  • Collaborate and work in harmony with all teams within the company in line with the determined company strategies.
  • Identify situations that may pose a risk within the unit in advance, share them with managers, and develop control steps to prevent faulty processes and risks.
  • Act in accordance with Information Security Policies and the company's privacy rules.
What are the Required Qualifications?
  • Graduated from engineering, informatics or related departments of universities.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in database administration.
  • Preferably managed Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2017 and/or 2019 Standard/Enterprise Edition databases.
  • Experienced with PostgreSQL, MySQL and CosmoDb databases.
  • Expert in big data architecture and management.
  • Familiar with High Availability (Dataguard/AlwaysOn) concepts.
  • Experienced in database maintenance, security, performance management, backup/restore, installation, patching and upgrades.
  • Knowledgeable in high availability and geo‑redundancy.
  • Expert in optimizing complex queries with strong understanding of SQL.
  • Can perform necessary operations/settings for system availability, scalability and performance.
  • High analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Willing to research and learn new technologies, curious, seeking continuous improvement, learning and applying quickly.
  • Possess mathematical thinking and analysis ability, prone to algorithm design.
  • Experience in writing documents.
