Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc in Turkey is seeking a database specialist to oversee design, installation, upgrade, migration, backup and restoration of MSSQL environments, with optional experience in PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL.

You will design DR structures, tune and harden systems, manage access, perform health checks, plan backups and DR tests, and monitor deployments including cloud migration steps, while communicating effectively with teams in English.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in database environments.
• MSSQL experience; MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL knowledge is a plus.
• Managing capabilities and intermediate knowledge of DB structures and environment components.
• Experience in DR structures and DR scenarios of DB systems.
• Disaster Recovery technologies knowledge.
• T-SQL scripting skills.
• Strong analytical, decisive, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Manage design, installation, upgrade, patching, migration, backup/restore and consolidation of MSSQL databases.
• Handle PostgreSQL/MySQL/NoSQL/Oracle structures as optional knowledge.
• Design and manage disaster recovery structures for DB systems.
• Tune and harden DB and system layers; troubleshoot performance issues.
• Troubleshoot and report critical issues.
• Resolve bottlenecks with tuning.
• Control access permissions and privileges.
• Perform periodic health checks on critical DB structures.
• Plan and implement backup and restore strategies; ensure high availability and DR plans.
• Proactively monitor deployed systems and cloud project steps related to DB migrations/consolidation.
• Ensure backups/restores with scheduled testing and validation.

What you’ll do

• Management and operation of design, installation, upgrade and patching, migration, backup&restore and consolidation processes in MSSQL
• ( PostgSQL, MySQL, NoSQL and Oracle nice to have) database structures
• Design and Management of DR structures of DB systems
• Tunning, Hardening in both the DB and System layers and also environment components, as well as troubleshoot and fix performance issues in those layers
• Troubleshooting and reporting mysterious and critical issues
• Resolve problems in database bottleneck areas with tuning
• Controlling access permissions and privileges
• Periodic health checks in mission critical DB structures,
• Planning and implementation of database backup and restore strategies,
• To prepare high availability and disaster recovery plans and applications and to follow the process
• Proactive monitoring of deployed systems and HW/SW components
• Management of cloud project steps related to DB structures such as migration , consolidation , precheck, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring database backups and restores to include scheduled testing and validation

Who you are

• At least 1-2 years experience in database environment
• Experience and background in MSSQL (exprience MySQL , PostgreSQL and NoSql is nice to have) database concepts.
• Having management capabilities and In-depth knowledge on intermadiate level about all relevant db structures and environment components
• Experience in DR structures and DR scenarios of DB systems
• Disaster Recovery technologies knowledge
• Scripting TSQL skills
• Strong analytical and quick decision-making, result and solution-oriented and self-motivated
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Fluency in English
