Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design scalable, secure data solutions and provide technical leadership across the project lifecycle.

You will model end-to-end data architectures, govern data quality, and guide cross-functional teams in implementing modern data platforms using Databricks and GCP.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data architecture or related roles with enterprise-scale delivery.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust data architectures while providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end data architectures, including data modeling, integration, storage, and analytics solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
• Select appropriate technologies and platforms for data management, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability
• Oversee data migration, transformation, and integration processes across various systems
• Establish data governance, quality, and security standards
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Document architectural decisions, data flows, and solution designs
• Stay updated on emerging data technologies and trends to recommend improvements

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related disciplines, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
• Expertise in designing and implementing Data Platforms & Solutions, including end-to-end architecture covering ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption layers for both batch and real-time workloads
• Deep understanding of Data Mesh principles, including domain-oriented data ownership, data-as-a-product mindset, self-serve data infrastructure, and federated computational governance
• Proficiency in Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, notebooks, and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage, along with knowledge of GCP security, networking, and cost optimization best practices
• Familiarity with Atlan for metadata management, data cataloging, lineage tracking, and enabling enterprise-wide data discovery and governance initiatives
• Proficient communication skills in English (B2 level or higher)

• Knowledge of Cloudera Data Platform
• Understanding of Data Lakehouse architectures
• Background in Gen AI Application Development
• Skills in Oracle RDBMS
