Job summary

DeFacto seeks a hands-on Big Data & Analytics lead to guide the team, design scalable data platforms, and ensure robust ETL pipelines. You will lead architecture discussions and drive best practices across data engineering initiatives.

You will work with Python/Scala, Spark, and cloud services across diverse data sources, contributing to analytics capabilities and data-driven decisions. This role offers growth in a dynamic fashion retail environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, MIS, statistics, or mathematics.
• 2+ years of experience in big data and researching large data sets.
• Experience designing and implementing high-volume data ingestion and streaming pipelines.
• Experience with Python or Scala and Apache Spark.
• Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Experience in NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Couchbase, etc.) and SQL databases.
• Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, NiFi, Kafka, etc.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as BitBucket CI/CD, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins.
• Proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments.
• Passionate about learning new technologies and creating innovative solutions.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban is a plus.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading and hands-on supporting the Big Data & Analytics team.
• Follow the design principles and best practices defined by the team for data platform techniques and architecture.
• Ensure architectural designs are future-proofed for scale, load, and performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues on the data pipelines and data lake.
• Develop ETL processes to populate a data lake with large datasets from various sources.
• Help the team improve their analytical skills.
