PMI Leaf is responsible for the procurement of the tobacco leaf materials required to manufacture our finished products. The Modern Agronomy is the function in PMI Leaf that leads the implementation and continuous improvement of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) across markets and suppliers by ensuring crop performance, sustainability, and compliance with company standards. For our Leaf Cluster based in Izmir, Turkiye we are therefore recruiting a Agronomy Manager.

In This Role, You Will
  • Develop and lead the strategic direction, roadmap, and regional programs for agronomy in collaboration with cluster teams and suppliers.
  • Lead and drive proactive monitoring and intervention across all crop development stages, ensuring timely resolution of agricultural issues and strict adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and company.
  • Lead suppliers and markets towards agronomic excellence, evaluating costs of production, quality and all other variables that will impact price and sustainability of the business at production level.
  • Ensure timely delivery of crop-specific insights to cross-functional teams, enabling data‑driven decisions that optimize financial performance, enhance product value, and strengthen supplier/customer engagement.
  • Collaborate in the design and management of projects to scout and evaluate new technologies, new agriculture/modern practices, managing cost efficiencies and impacts on a sustainable production for farmers and ecosystems.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of agronomic issues (e.g., pest outbreaks, climate impacts, soil health) through proactive problem‑solving and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support other areas (Leaf and other stakeholders) in aligning agronomic strategies with business goals and stakeholder expectations, assessing together agronomic progresses on parameters related to the business.
  • Support Regional Management on market intelligence analyses and other ad‑hoc projects.
  • With a zero‑loss mindset, continuously improve all activities and processes under the scope of responsibilities and share best practices with other Leaf Regions.
What We Are Looking For
  • Degree in Agronomy, Engineer/Science, Agricultural Production, or other related degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in crop production environments.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Good knowledge in Agricultural economics, ecosystem dynamics and mechanisms.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder Management and negotiation skills.
  • Proven records working with cross‑functional programs, in multi‑national and multi‑cultural environment.
  • Drive for results, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration, coordination and team player.
  • Open‑minded, innovative and adaptable.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (preferably).
