The Salvation Army, Children and Youth Group – Gracehaven is a residential home that provides care, protection, and rehabilitation for children and youths who face risk behaviours and lack parental supervision. Our objective is to help these young people reintegrate into their families and society through a range of holistic programmes and activities designed to meet each individual's wellbeing. A team of professionally trained social workers at Gracehaven develops individualized care plans tailored to each survivor’s needs.

Responsibilities

As a Youth Work Associate, you will be part of the care team responsible for engaging residents in holistic and meaningful activities, providing guidance, supervision, and acting as a positive role model.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide residents to follow home guidelines and develop moral character and civic duty.
• Provide feedback to the social workers, assistant manager, and manager on residents’ progress through proper recording in communication logs, residents information book, and other reports.
• Plan and facilitate group activities, including program adjustment, life‑skills instruction, conflict resolution, and teaching life skills to residents.
• Prevent abuse of residents by adhering to all policies and procedures.
• Support children and young persons experiencing trauma, building resilience together with the multidisciplinary team.

• Able to work on rotational weekends and public holidays.
• Keen to work in the children and youth sector.
• A good communicator and collaborator with the team.

Other Information

Working Hours

44 working hours per week. The program operates 24/7, so flexibility in work arrangement is expected as needs arise.

Normal Rotating Shift Hours

• Morning Shift: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
• Afternoon Shift: 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Qualifications

At least a diploma – preferably in Youth Work, Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Events Management, Community Development, Outdoor and Adventure Learning. Enrolled nurses, student care teachers, or any other relevant experiences working with children and youth are welcome to apply.
