Job summary

WTT WRITER

As a WTT Writer within our editorial team, you will directly report to the Editor under the PR & Marketing function. Your role involves producing compelling content for WTT's digital platforms, including websites, apps, and fan outreach programs. As a deeply experienced writer, you are passionate about sports and are constantly looking to make an impact in the world of table tennis through storytelling.

While we have a preference for candidates based in Singapore, we are also open to applications from across Asia.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively write, produce, and update engaging content for WTT’s digital platforms, ensuring a steady stream of fresh, relevant material
  • Work in tandem with the social media and creative teams, integrating text with images, audio, and video to enhance storytelling and fan engagement
  • Regularly pitch new story ideas and angles, contributing to the editorial team’s strategy with creative and insightful content proposals
  • Assist the PR team by crafting and editing press releases and other media outreach materials, aligning with WTT’s communication goals
  • Lend your writing expertise to the social media team, generating compelling content that promotes interaction and increases follower engagement across platforms
  • Conduct thorough research and interviews to build a solid foundation for stories, ensuring accuracy and depth in reporting
  • Apply SEO best practices to content creation, optimising articles for visibility and search engine ranking
  • Utilise analytics to inform content strategy, adapting to performance metrics and audience preferences for optimal engagement
  • Deliver on content for events, including but not limited to, highlights, daily media notes, match summaries and player interviews (This will require some travel to WTT events)
  • When necessary, contribute to the scripting of event presentations and announcements, adding a polished narrative element to our event highlights and short-form content
REQUIREMENTS
Essentials:
  • Diploma in Mass Communications, Journalism or a related field
  • At least 3 years of editorial experience, preferably in sports journalism. Knowledge of table tennis will be highly desired
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce accurate content swiftly
  • Capability to pitch and develop multiple story ideas under tight deadlines
  • Proficient in handling event editorial coverage and adapting to breaking news situations
  • Deep understanding of WCMS
  • Experience in SEO for optimising content for search engines
  • Familiarity with analytics tools to guide editorial decisions
Desirables:
  • Passion for sport and business
  • Ability to work in multiple languages, with preference for Southeast Asian Languages
