WSHO - SINGAPOREANS ONLY WITH EXP IN CONSTRUCTION OR PROJECT SAFETY
To ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and company safety policies at the construction site for projects. The WSHO will oversee and implement safety systems, conduct inspections, and promote a safe working environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with WSH Regulations such as site complies with the Workplace Safety and Health Act and its subsidiary legislations (e.g. WSH (Construction) Regulations). And perform statutory roles of Registered WSH Officer.
- Monitor adherence to company safety policies and procedures
- Conduct Safety Inspections and Audits by performing regular site safety inspections and risk assessments, identify unsafe practices or hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions. As well as to ensure all machinery and equipment are in safe working condition.
- Implement/adherence to safety management systems for projects/sites, monitoring & control projects/sites specific Risk Management Plans, Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a Workplace Safety and Heath Management System (WSHMS) if required.
- Investigating any accidents, near misses or unsafe acts. Recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence and submit reports to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) as required.
- To conduct or coordinate safety briefings, toolbox talks, and induction training for workers and new staff. Educate workers about site hazards, PPE usage, emergency procedures etc.
- Develop and test emergency response plan, if necessary, ensure fire safety, first aid and evacuation procedures are in place and known to all workers.
- Liaise with government authorities like the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), BCA, SCDF or customers for safety matters and serve as the main point of contact during site inspections or audits by regulators or customer.
- Maintain Safety Records of inspections, incidents, training, permits and safety meetings. To submit regular safety performances reports to site management.
- Maintain and improve EHS standards and practices at the workplace/sites.
- Promote safety related activities, attend committee meetings and conduct regular training to stakeholders if necessary.
Requirements
- Must be a Workplace Safety & Health Officer registered with Ministry Of Manpower (Singapore).
- Must be an Environmental Control Officer (Specified Construction Sites) registered under National Environmental Agency (Singapore).
- Possess a Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health or equivalent (MOM-recognized).
- Singapore Citizen (due to regulatory/project requirements)
- Experience and good knowledge of Environment, Workplace Safety & Health Management Systems such as ISO14001 and ISO45001 including and BizSAFE Certification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in construction/project safety.
- Familiarity with WSH (Construction) Regulations, Code of Practices, and other local regulations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and control measures.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage emergencies and lead incident investigations.
- Certified in First Aid, Working at Height, Confined Space, etc.
- Familiar with ISO 45001 or bizSAFE level implementation.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Possesses initiatives and creativity to drive process improvements.
- Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and odd hours when required.
- Perform any other related duties or ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Project Manager, Safety Manager, or Management, to support site operations and ensure workplace safety.
