Job Summary
We are looking for a certified and proactive Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) to oversee and implement all safety and health-related matters within the hospital. You will ensure full compliance with local safety regulations and hospital policies, identify hazards, promote a strong safety culture, and lead initiatives to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the WSH Act, Fire Safety Act, Environmental Public Health Act, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across hospital departments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Lead and implement the hospital’s safety management system and infection control safety protocols.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to identify and mitigate safety risks (e.g., chemical handling, biological hazards, radiation safety, patient transport, emergency evacuation).
- Develop, review, and enforce safe work procedures (SWPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate and conduct safety training, emergency drills, and briefings for hospital staff and contractors.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities such as MOM, SCDF, NEA, and MOH during audits or inspections.
- Monitor and manage contractor safety for facility works, renovations, or maintenance projects within hospital premises.
- Prepare and submit all necessary WSH documentation and reports, including incident reports and safety statistics.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture through campaigns, workshops, and staff engagement initiatives.
Requirements
- WSHO certification registered with MOM (Singapore)
- Minimum Diploma in Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in WSH, preferably in healthcare, hospitals, or large facilities
- Familiar with healthcare-specific safety hazards (e.g., sharps, infectious waste, patient mobility, confined spaces)
- Good knowledge of local WSH regulations and safety management systems
- Strong communication, investigation, and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Fire Safety Manager (FSM) / First Aid / Incident Management certifications are a plus
