Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is looking for a Safety Manager to ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage safety audits. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Singapore’s WSH Act, have experience in conducting safety training, and be skilled in risk management and incident investigations. Job Descrioption

  • Ensure all Statutory act & regulations, company safety rules & regulations and code of practice are implemented and complied by all staff.
  • Review and recommend necessary changes regularly to the safety management system to keep it updated with the applicable local legislation.
  • Conduct safety training related to the activity based on Safe Work Procedure / Risk Assessment.
  • Manage Safety Audits on site.
  • Review all risk assessments and risk management internally and externally.
  • Conduct monthly WSH Committee Meeting and put up safety reports.
  • Conduct monthly Mass Toolbox Meeting and participate in the Daily Toolbox Meeting.
  • Enforce house rules on all stake holders and take action when necessary for noncompliance.
  • Work closely with the project team to eliminate security, safety, health and environment hazards.
  • Ensure legal compliance to all statutory safety and environmental regulations and timely submission of mandatory documents.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities on matters pertaining to occupational safety and health.
  • Advice Project Director/Manager in occupational safety and health.
  • Inspection of site to ensure all facilities and equipment relevant to the maintenance of environmental health is in proper working condition.
  • Manage incidents' investigations, recommend corrective actions and follow-up on the implementations and effectiveness of actions taken
  • Review and maintain site's environmental, health and safety records
  • Ensure PTW supporting documents are valid and in place for operational performance
  • Other duties as assigned by the Departmental Manager.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Workplace Safety & Health (WSH): Strong knowledge of Singapore’s WSH Act, subsidiary regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice for the construction sector.
  • Risk Assessment & Management: Skilled in identifying hazards, evaluating and prioritizing risks, and implementing effective control measures.
  • Incident & Accident Investigation: Competent in conducting detailed investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Compliance: Ensures full compliance with MOM, NEA, and BCA requirements as well as company safety management systems.
  • ISO Standards: Familiar with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems).
  • Safety Audits & Inspections: Experienced in planning, conducting, and documenting safety audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
  • Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Knowledgeable in fire prevention, emergency response coordination, and site fire safety requirements.
  • Safety Training & Promotion: Capable of conducting safety briefings, toolbox meetings, and promoting a strong safety culture among all workers and subcontractors.
  • Occupational Health Management: Understands workplace health programs, occupational hygiene, and health surveillance requirements.
  • Environmental Management: Oversees environmental protection, waste management, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives on construction sites.
  • ECO Certification: Possesses valid Environmental Control Officer (ECO) certification recognized by the National Environment Agency (NEA).
