Job summary

A leading HR consultancy is seeking a Workshop Supervisor in Singapore to oversee day-to-day operations in the engineering workshop. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in industrial metal work, possesses a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and is knowledgeable in welding procedures and safety regulations. This full-time position offers a salary range of $3000 to $3400 with additional OT entitlements.

Workshop Supervisor (Engineering)
  • Location: Tuas
  • (Company Transport / Transport Allowance if candidate travel to work by themselves)
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday (8am - 5pm), Saturday (8am - 12pm)
  • Basic: $3000 to $3400 + Entitled to OT
  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding, Fabrication technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial metal work, including supervisory experience.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication standards, and welding procedures.
  • Familiar with common tools: MIG/TIG/Stick welding, grinder, gas cutter, plasma cutter, slip roller & etc.
  • Safety knowledge of hot work and workshop safety regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead day-to-day operations in the workshop, including cutting, welding, griding, drilling and repairs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and translate them into clear work instructions for the team.
  • Allocate manpower and monitor job progress to meet schedule and quality expectations.
  • Ensure fabrication work aligns with structural integrity, tolerances and requirements.
  • Inspect completed jobs for workmanship, dimensional accuracy and welding quality.
  • Support root cause analysis of failed or defective components and propose design/fabrication improvements.
  • Ensure availability of materials, tools and consumables required for jobs.
  • Monitor usage of welding rods, gas cylinders, grinding discs and consumables to control costs.
  • Supervisor technicians and provide on job coaching, identify training needs and skills gaps; propose development plans for the team.
  • Ensure compliance with workshop safety rules, PPE usage, permit protocols, and housekeeping of area.
